Hi Ken, Good luck with the 150 yr old house. Sounds like a hand full.  What will you do first? Please put up some pics of the old house so we can see what you are doing.

John

Hello All! This is Ryan from Georgia. Yes, Georgia is a southern warm state but I am very very interested in solar energy and harnessing it's power! I am new to this forum but not new to Scott's videos and solar thermal technology. I currently am working on manifesting/manufacturing solar thermal heating systems for commercial and residential applications utilizing 2 design patents and 1 pending utility patent. I am very knowledgeable in solar thermal heaters and also am a lifelong wood burner. I can help with wood furnaces as well. I shun paying outrageous power/gas/oil bills and am all for helping people and businesses become energy independent!!! Cheers!

Ryan, I'm excited to get to tap that knowledge stream of yours!

I'm Neice "NEE, CEE" and my husband and I are converting our pole barn,(my old portrait studio) into our solar retirement home. We are in the beginning stages, 6 mo, and were drawn to your forum because we are trying to set up our heating for the building. We are really excited about many of the projects, the air collectors and the hydronic collectors. We only have a 30amp line connected to the building and no sewage or running water. We actually live in it already with gallon jugs and a porta potty. We have a lot to accomplish in the next few months to get us ready for our Mid Michigan winters. We have backups for heat but really would like to get one or both running by October.

Thanks for all the good information we have found already.

Hi All, have spent days reading forums and watching Scotts'  videos on this incredible topic. Living in the Northeast presents many challenges for heating and cooling, getting away from heating oil is my main goal. My head is spinning with ideas on adapting this to my home and look forward to your input to help me get there. Thanks

Hi, Mike,

Welcome to the site !

Getting away from heating oil = a very noble cause !

Guess U have a boiler and ductwork ? Or maybe radiators ?
Tell us about your existing system and what U envisage on your Dream List !
Mebbe some details about your house - orientation etc.
Folks on here like helping !

Cheers,
