"Solar is a super use of a free resource..."

Oil, coal and natural gas are free but solar and wind are two energy sources that cannot be privatized ... that is one significant difference.

That has nothing to do with "free", and it CAN be privatized with the help of the government (already privatized). Trump will find a way.

Reminds me of the state's that won't allow rainfall collection......it's all free, it's the harvesting that drains the wallet, but once the initial investment is made in any of the alternate energy systems, you at least have a lack of a monthly reminder that somebody else controls the convenience of light and other amenities.PLUS, when you are at 10,000 ft and 5 miles from a power pole, it limits your options.....rsbhunter

So true. It doesn't have to be free to be the best choice.

But what irks me is when people brag "FREE energy", and a few thousand later you find it was all a lie. The only thing I've ever found to be free was TROUBLE.

Reads like you referring to misrepresentation of the Return On Investment, not the cost of the energy per se.

I'm learning a lot from this thread. Makes me hopeful for my first set up, but was wondering if you have fuses and kill switches set up?
