Hi all , I am new to this site and a solar greenhorn for sure. I have read up on it some and have watched dozens of YouTube videos on solar power but I'm yet to try a project myself. I own a spot in the west texas desert that I plan to build a cabin on someday and power it with solar. I'm trying to learn all I can. I hope to do that here. Good day to all!

Welcome Snubber. Don't forget to consider solar hot water and space heating too.

Hello Snubber, Glad you have the interest in Solar! I explain Solar heating to new comers like this: Have you noticed on a cold day, how warm it is inside a closed vehicle? That is the basic principle behind Solar heating. Now you have to figure out how to get that heat into your house! It's that simple... at least in theory! BTW, here is a tip, please don't even consider making a beer/soda can heater like I did! Way to much labor and time involved. Mine works well but there are much better designs!
