Here's a manual one going cheap at 12 dollars...

at that price, maybe you could fix up a gearmoter drive system ?

(still a lot cheaper than the 103.25 USD for the Moneywell)

That's an idea. Was going to use one fan just befor the Y, but it may be something to think about.

GH, That looks like it would work. Hate to see the price though.

GH,
I watched the chicken video. Wish I could find the full printed instructions for that. I did grab a screenshot from the video.

Well we are getting a library of ideas here for anyone looking for a 12v dc damper or someone that wants to build their own.

Just a final thought before I "put a damper on my activities" [redface]:

  • Maybe the place to go would be a heating installation company - they might have some old junk lying around, or reconditionable...

GH @ $12 those balancers are a steal! Nice find ;-)The shaft through them is 3/8" square so they could easily be ganged side by side  and 'motorized'. Bert, you should grab a pair!

Bert, I should ask 'where' you are getting your 12V DC from? Car window/wiper stuff will draw a load of current, so a little wall wart type PSU  won't work, but if you have solar with batteries you will have the Amps..

I have two 100 watts solar panels and controller hooked up to three 100ah batteries. So far they have been working great running a couple fans, controller and 4 lights.
The panels charge the batteries up 100% pretty fast every day. On cloudy days it takes longer but the panels still produce.

Those $12 dampers are a good deal, but I rather use round 8" ones.

GH
True about the heating company.

I think that I have to either go with 24v ac or try my hand at making a 12v damper. Depends on how much free time I have this winter. The projects around the house never seem to stop. [smile]

Here's a product that converts 12v dc to 24v ac, but I don't want to spend that much on it really. Figure I would post it here in case someone else may want to.
