Hi All,

Our policy on commercial links is as follows:

Commercial links are only okay in the context of an ongoing discussion.  The linked product must be directly related to the discussion.

In other words, if you create a product, or know of one that can be of benefit to a particular subject that is being discussed, awesome, please share!  That knowledge may save someone lots of time and effort!

If, on the other hand, your post appears to be placed with the goal primarily of obtaining free advertising, your posted content and your time on this forum will be brief.

It is a particularly bad idea to start off a new topic with product links.

Thanks for your continued cooperation.

Recently there have been posts with many Amazon affiliate links added by  VigLinks

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VigLink

"The company’s technology, VigLink Insert, scans a page for words that could be potentially profitable to the publisher of the page, and connects the keyword with a product from an affiliate program.[3][4] The publisher is paid when a reader clicks a link contained in the content to buy or learn more about a service or product.[3][7][12]"

It is the policy of our forums to limit commercial posts so posts with VigLinks or excessive  Amazon affiliate links will be deleted without notice.

Lets see if I can summarize this. If the Commercial link serves the discussion, it is permitted. If it is an attempt to get this community to serve the commercial interest, it is forbidden.

Another example:Links selling ingredients or recipes for baking a cake are fine. Links to promote or sell a finished cake, not so much...

I find the people that come here trying to sell or promote a finished product don't understand the concept, or mentality, of DIYers.
